Prepare For a Successful Relaxed Christmas

Christmas can be a stressful time but planning and organisation can be key for a successful and relaxed Christmas season.

Here are VASS’s top tips for achieving just this:

  • Organise your existing items: Take stock of the current inventory of the Christmas items you already have, such as Christmas cards, decorations, recipes, and gifts, helping you save money and time.

  • Plan your Christmas day, think about what time you would like things amongst the day to happen, do you want to sip champagne and Bucks Fizz while opening presents at 11 am or in comfy pyjamas with a hot chocolate at 6 am. What time would you like to eat Christmas lunch, go for a walk, etc. Having a loose plan of the day will help to manage expectations and allow for a more relaxed day.

  • If you are cooking Christmas lunch, do as much as you can before the day. For instance, if you are serving soup, make and freeze it the week before, or prepping vegetables the day before.

  • Make lists, who do you need presents and cards for, what do you need to buy? This will help to maintain organisation and any instances of panic if you have forgotten someone or something.

  • Schedule downtime to relax. Even if it’s 30 minutes for a nice bubble bath, exercise, or how you best relax.

  • Take a break when you feel overwhelmed. You may feel guilty when you need to take a break, but it will help maintain a relaxed day.

  • Get help and let others do the hard work and the jobs that you don’t like to do.

Examples of tasks that you can give someone else to do:

  • Present sourcing

  • Christmas card writing

  • Present wrapping

  • Cooking Christmas lunch

  • Planning a Christmas party

  • Decorating your Christmas tree

Here at VASS, we can help complete these tasks or find an expert to do them for you. To find out more about how we can help you achieve the perfect relaxed Christmas Day contact us here:
